Stone throwing youths !

Dear Reader,

In the recent past reports have come in from the UK of a range of people, both young and not so young have been fighting with the police, throwing missiles and setting fires. These horrible yobs have done things like burn down a furniture shop close to my home town. I am sure that many people want to give stone throwers the cat of nine tails ! Or at least a long spell in gaol !

When you hear of stone throwing youths you might instantly think “lock ’em up, lets punish them and show them who is boss !” But it is important to have all the facts before making up your mind.

Things are not always quite as the head lines might suggest.

One group of youths in Norway fought back against the gun thug by throwing stones at him. While the bombardment of stones did not stop the vile offender, it may have saved lives by distracting him.

I have to say that these young men were brave and noble, they did something which put themselves in harm’s way while trying to protect society.
